City of Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department

Every Wednesday until further notice, Elizabethton City Schools will be handing out lunches by ways of a traveling bus for any youth 18 years or younger and they do not have to be a student. They will be at the Parks and Recreation Department (300 W. Mill Street) from 11:00AM until about 11:20AM depending on participation. Elizabethton City Schools will be visiting other locations within the City at different times on Wednesdays so please check with them to see if there is a better place to pick up a lunch for your child.

Riverside Park

Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Reopening Schedule

 Effective May 29, 2020, the following reopening plan for recreational facilities is now underway.

Playgrounds and pavilions are now open for public use at Harmon, City Park, Kiwanis, Douglas, Edwards Island and Riverside Park facilities.

Athletic Fields located at our City Park, Lions Field, Carmon Dugger Sports Complex Youth Baseball and Softball Field and the Elizabethton Recreation Center Tee Ball Complex are open for public use, but with some restrictions. These facilities are for team practices only. No games should be played between two teams and coaches must continue to follow proper guidelines for Covid – 19.

Tennis court facilities are open at the Joe Laporte Junior Recreation Area and at the City Park.

Outdoor park restroom facilities will be open on June 1st.

Our Administrative Office will begin scheduling private party pavilion rentals on June 8 with rentals beginning for no more than 50 individuals on June 27, 2020.

The Elizabethton Recreation Center will begin a gradual reopening of facility activities on June 8th. More announcements pertaining to the Recreation Center reopening will be forth coming.

Outdoor Basketball courts, open gym at the Elizabethton Recreation Center will continue to be closed for public use.

Please remember to practice social distancing and to wash hands and/or use hand sanitizer frequently.

The Department is working on our upcoming Recreational Plan. We need input from the public in order to help us form this plan. Please click here to download our Recreational Survey and fill it out.
