Code Enforcement

high_weedsThe City of Elizabethton's Codes Enforcement is responsible for responding and resolving issues concerning dilapidated structures and nuisance abatement (overgrown property, inoperable vehicles, trash, and unsightly debris) to help maintain and promote a safe and healthy environment for the City as a whole.

The current code is the International Property Maintenance Code (2015).

SmartGov LaunchesOver the last 18 months, the City of Elizabethton's Development Department has been working diligently to prepare and implement SmartGov, a new online solution to permitting, plan review, inspection services, planning, and code enforcement. It is our hope that we can increase our services to the community while becoming more efficient through the use of this system..

Through this portal, the public can apply for a building permit, submit plans, schedule inspections, and report code enforcement complaints fully online. This system is available 24/7 - not just when City Hall is open to the public.
